Remote Senior Platform Engineer

Description:

• The Senior Platform Engineer at Glide will be responsible for evolving the data sources strategy, improving infrastructure utilization, and ensuring operational excellence in availability, security, and performance.
• The ideal candidate will specialize in provisioning and managing large-scale data sources like PostgreSQL, Apache Kafka, and NATs in various cloud environments.
• They will work on evolving legacy services using progressive rollout techniques and leverage observability and testing to ensure service confidence.
• Responsibilities include facilitating standardization of data sync and persistence infrastructure, driving integrations with data source platforms, providing infrastructure to service teams, monitoring infrastructure costs, and establishing patterns for uptime protection.
• The role involves writing, reviewing, and maintaining code primarily in TypeScript, providing technical leadership, mentorship, and code review, and making risk-adjusted architectural decisions.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience as a platform engineer/SRE.
• 3+ years of experience building and maintaining highly available and scalable distributed data sources.
• Experience managing large-scale PostgreSQL installations.
• Proficiency in TypeScript development and strong SQL skills.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform services, Kubernetes, and event-driven architectures.
• Clear and effective communication skills.
