Description:

  • Lyka is an Australian pet wellness company focused on improving the health and lifespan of pets by providing nutritionally balanced, wholefood meals.
  • The company has served 40 million meals to pets in Australia and aims to expand its product range and enter new markets.
  • They are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join their internal Platform team and support the delivery of pet food to customers.
  • The role involves contributing to a new e-commerce platform, transitioning to a microservices architecture, and enhancing technical skills across the engineering team.
  • The Senior Platform Engineer will play a key role in deploying services on AWS, building CI/CD pipelines, using Node.js, ensuring observability in a microservices environment, and mentoring engineering squads.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential for this role.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience deploying services on AWS, including ECS, Fargate, EC2, ALB, RDS, Lambda, and IAM.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure as code, ideally CDK & CloudFormation.
  • Experience with building and optimizing CI/CD delivery pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar.
  • Development experience using Node.js (TypeScript).
  • Familiarity with observability in a microservices environment using tools like CloudWatch & Honeycomb.
  • Solid networking & network security skills, including VPC, security groups, TCP/IP, HTTP, and DNS.
  • Ability to mentor and convey DevOps best practices to engineering squads.
  • Strong collaboration skills to enhance the knowledge and capabilities of the engineering team.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with AWS security and compliance services.
  • Experience integrating security processes and tooling into the software development lifecycle.
