Remote Senior Platform Engineer

Description:

• The Motley Fool is seeking a senior Platform Engineer to design, implement, and maintain scalable systems and infrastructure within the CloudOps team.
• Responsibilities include building and managing AWS cloud infrastructure, overseeing creation and deployment pipelines, maintaining various environments, and providing solutions for recurring challenges.
• The role requires a deep understanding of cloud platforms, networking, software design, operations, automation, and containerization.
• The position involves modernizing and enhancing the platform, collaborating with development teams, accelerating CI/CD processes, and optimizing costs.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of platform engineering experience in a product-focused company.
• Startup experience to understand challenges related to platform growth and maturity.
• Hands-on experience with NextJS and Django software frameworks.
• Passion for enhancing the local developer experience and mentoring team members.
• Proficiency in automation, observability tools like CloudWatch and DataDog, and Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Advanced skills in setting up reproducible and scalable environments, designing infrastructure for AWS-hosted applications, event-driven systems, containerized services on Kubernetes, and serverless functions.
