Description:
Weave is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer for their Data Infrastructure team, located in Lehi, UT, with a preference for local candidates but open to remote applicants based on experience.
The role involves joining a team of talented developers focused on distributed backend systems, data, scalability, and ongoing development.
You will work on new and ongoing projects to enhance data availability, discoverability, and usability.
The position is part of cross-functional, agile teams that include a product owner, backend and frontend developers, and DevOps, allowing for high autonomy and ownership.
Your contributions will significantly impact customer experiences and help cultivate Weave's culture.
The Data Platform Team aims to facilitate product innovation by simplifying access to large data sets for developers.
Key responsibilities include designing and developing core data platform components, building scalable services for data integration and event processing, and ensuring high-quality code production.
You will collaborate with team members and stakeholders to translate product goals into actionable engineering plans.
Requirements:
A high-integrity, team-focused approach with strong collaboration skills is essential for building relationships across Weave.
Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in a back-end programming language such as Go, Java, or Python, with additional experience in Go, Java, or C/C++ being a plus.
Experience in moving and storing large volumes of data, such as terabytes or hundreds of millions of records, is required.
A solid understanding of distributed systems and the ability to build scalable, redundant, and observable services is necessary.
Expertise in architecting messaging systems and distributed data stores, including NoSQL technologies like Kafka, Google PubSub, and others, is essential.
Experience in building solutions on public cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP is required.
Familiarity with infrastructure as code and maintaining highly available systems is necessary.
Candidates should be responsive, action-oriented, and possess an entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to learn.
A proven track record of delivering complex projects on time in enterprise-grade production environments is required.
Strategic thinking, strong technical aptitude, and a passion for execution are essential qualities.
