Description:
Oddball is seeking a Senior Rails Engineer to contribute to a pivotal Federal program that positively impacts millions of Americans' daily lives.
The role involves developing API endpoints and services that proxy requests to various applications, utilizing message queues, XML, and JSON.
Daily responsibilities include writing code, developing tests, and debugging.
Engineers are expected to provide input on high-level architecture and coding decisions.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience working with Ruby on Rails.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in an Agile software development environment is required.
Proficiency in a major open-source programming language such as Ruby, Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript is necessary.
A solid understanding of fundamental web technologies including HTTP, SSL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSON is essential.
Experience with a front-end JavaScript framework like Angular, React, or Backbone is required.
Candidates should have extensive experience in taking program requirements and creating an architectural vision, particularly in high volume and high availability networks and systems.
The ability to create and communicate the architectural vision for a program or project is necessary.
Experience in building APIs that support both digital services and third-party usage is required.
Candidates must utilize unit and integration testing to ensure systems meet business needs.
The ability to write code that is easy for other engineers to read and understand is essential.
Experience with all phases of the software development lifecycle, from gathering and analyzing user/business system requirements to creating application system models, is required.
Participation in design meetings and collaboration with project teams to refine, test, and debug programs is necessary.
Experience with Amazon Web Services, particularly EC2, S3, and RDS, is preferred.
