Description:

  • Axelera AI is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer specializing in systolic multiplier architectures for AI training applications.
  • The role involves conducting research and development on systolic multiplier arrays tailored for AI training workloads.
  • Responsibilities include evaluating architectural trade-offs, performing modeling and simulation of systolic arrays, and exploring integration strategies for these architectures into ISAs like RISC-V, ARM (SME), or x86 (AMX).
  • The engineer will critically assess architectural proposals, propose novel improvements, and validate these through benchmarking and testing.
  • Collaboration with hardware and software teams is essential to align systolic architectures with broader system-level goals.
  • The position offers flexible working arrangements, including options for remote work across Europe or relocation to Italy or the Netherlands.

Requirements:

  • A Master's or PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, focusing on AI hardware or systolic architectures is required.
  • Candidates must have expertise in designing, analyzing, and modeling systolic multiplier arrays for AI training, with a strong understanding of power, performance, and area (PPA) trade-offs.
  • Experience in integrating systolic architectures into ISAs such as RISC-V, ARM (SME), or x86 (AMX) is necessary, along with evaluating the impacts of ISA-level extensions.
  • Proficiency in modeling, simulating, and validating systolic arrays for AI workloads is essential, as well as proposing improvements based on performance benchmarks.
  • Strong collaboration skills with hardware and software teams are required, along with the ability to contribute to research publications and patents.
  • Candidates must be able to work independently on architectural proposals and drive innovation for AI training applications.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory.
  • Preference will be given to candidates willing to relocate to Italy.
