Description:
Herrera is seeking a Senior Restoration Design Engineer with 15 or more years of experience in planning and designing projects in rivers, streams, and floodplains.
The engineer will collaborate with ecologists, landscape architects, engineers, and scientists to develop multi-disciplinary projects in complex ecological settings.
Responsibilities include supporting mitigation, restoration, flood risk reduction, and infrastructure protection projects for public and private clients in the Western United States.
Projects involve river and stream habitat restoration, fish passage improvements, watershed and floodplain assessment, coastal habitat restoration, river and stream bank stabilization, flood control, and infrastructure development.
The candidate will work on various engineering and surface water management projects.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, or a master's degree in civil or environmental engineering if the undergraduate degree was not in engineering.
Current professional engineer (PE) license in California, Washington, and/or Oregon, or ability to obtain one through comity application based on licensure in another US state.
Familiarity with Western state environmental policies and local permitting requirements.
Experience in concept development and design of stream and river restoration and floodplain management projects.
Knowledge of West Coast watershed characteristics and processes.
Ability to prepare design plans, construction specifications, and cost estimates.
Business development experience with current client contacts.
Strong communication skills and the ability to manage design tasks through completion.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and ArcGIS.
Experience with field data collection and related equipment.
Current driver's license.
