Description:

The Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer will maintain and enhance the Vehicle Hub software as a service platform through collaboration with Engineering and Product teams.
This role involves developing the full software stack, supporting colleagues, and contributing to the ongoing operations and maintenance of the platform to ensure it is secure, stable, and supported.
Key responsibilities include contributing to platform growth, enhancing and maintaining the existing software, determining suitable approaches for identified problem spaces, ensuring solutions meet acceptance criteria, implementing effective test coverage, conducting code reviews, managing development tasks, and assisting with backlog grooming.
The engineer will provide ongoing support to clients and the company, build a personal knowledge base of the system, act as a technical expert, answer technical queries, and identify enhancement opportunities.
The role also includes contributing to the ongoing operations and maintenance of the platform, updating software dependencies, enhancing test coverage, maintaining application containers, deploying to environments, monitoring infrastructure, and resolving infrastructure issues.

Requirements:

Candidates must have at least 7 years of experience developing with Ruby and the Ruby on Rails framework.
Proficiency in the RSpec automated test framework, JavaScript (native and jQuery), HTML, CSS, and JavaScript preprocessors (HAML/SASS/SCSS) is required.
Experience in maintaining and operating a production Ruby on Rails SaaS application and working in a busy, multi-functional, collaborative development team is essential.
Candidates should have experience in an agile development environment, planning and prioritizing a variable workload, and delivering to deadlines.
Familiarity with source code management tools like Git and GitHub, Application Performance Monitoring tools such as AppSignal and New Relic, and implementing scalable REST APIs using Ruby on Rails is necessary.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required, along with the ability to deal with people professionally and courteously.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory.
