Description:
Canonical is seeking several senior/staff Security Operations Engineer (SOC) positions to create a new team reporting to the CISO.
The roles require a range of experience, from deep expertise in defending critical assets against advanced threats to junior roles for exceptional individuals with a strong interest in cyber defense.
The goal is to enhance the assurance and observable rigor in the open source supply chain, monitoring Canonical's estate and improving the global Ubuntu estate's robustness.
The Security Operations (SecOps) team is responsible for designing, implementing, and evolving Canonical's security practices, tools, systems, and policies.
The team ensures the security and integrity of Canonical's infrastructure and product deployments, designing technical security controls to automatically identify, contain, and remediate threats.
The SecOps team also contributes to the security of the wider open source ecosystem through knowledge sharing and threat intelligence.
Responsibilities include implementing and evolving the Security Operation Center, analyzing security architecture, evaluating new security tools, guiding remediation of threats, and developing learning materials.
Requirements:
Candidates must have an exceptional academic track record, preferably with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
Previous professional experience in leading or working within a Security Operation Center is required.
A deep personal motivation for technology security and expertise in threat modeling and risk management frameworks is essential.
Knowledge of security architecture and leading security tools is necessary.
Experience with threat intelligence feeds and security risk management frameworks such as NIST CSF and ISO27001 is required.
Optional but valued experiences include working in a security operations team, hands-on experience in offensive or defensive security, and familiarity with advanced persistent threats.
