Description:
We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our growing Platform Infrastructure group, Site Reliability Engineering team.
This position reports to the Engineering Manager - Infrastructure.
The role involves applying technical and domain expertise to solve complex technical and business challenges.
Responsibilities include responding to and assisting with production incidents in collaboration with product teams.
The engineer will participate in design discussions, code reviews, and project-related team meetings.
The role requires working with other engineers to develop innovative solutions that meet business needs concerning functionality, performance, observability, scalability, and reliability.
Key tasks include building, deploying, and maintaining observability platforms for metrics gathering and dashboarding.
The engineer will lead software and system design initiatives using cloud-native design patterns.
Collaboration with other teams to improve BenchSci’s Incident Response processes is essential.
The engineer will assist teams in responding to, mitigating, and remediating production incidents.
Writing effective post-mortems and improving reliability culture and processes is part of the role.
The engineer will promote SRE best practices and help reduce toil by automating team and business processes.
Partnering with engineering and product stakeholders to refine requirements is expected.
Communication of cross-cutting decisions to all potentially impacted teams is necessary.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5+ years of experience working as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer is preferred.
Expert knowledge of incident response, observability, and reliability tools and techniques in a cloud-native environment is required, with Google Cloud preferred and AWS experience valuable.
Experience with cloud design patterns and developing specialized application stacks on cloud services is necessary, with Google Cloud considered an asset.
Proficiency in working with Python and JavaScript/TypeScript codebases is required.
The candidate should have an eagerness to share their own ideas and an openness to the ideas of others.
