Description:
Porch Group is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to assist in constructing top-notch infrastructure in the public cloud, primarily GCP.
The Senior Site Reliability Engineer will be accountable for enhancing the reliability and performance of the company's technology stack, collaborating with development teams to create scalable and highly reliable software systems.
Responsibilities include identifying and resolving complex issues proactively, implementing automation to streamline operations, and promoting best practices in reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
The role involves leading initiatives to enhance monitoring and alerting processes for a proactive response to potential issues, mentoring junior engineers, driving technical initiatives, and fostering collaboration across departments to achieve reliability goals.
Tasks also include building infrastructure/systems that prioritize operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization, improving system observability, contributing to DevOps roadmaps, supporting cloud footprint modernization, and enforcing SDLC, Infosec, and Compliance requirements.
The Senior Site Reliability Engineer will assist in root cause analysis/remediation for system incidents, provide basic database operations support, and aid in the migration and consolidation of infrastructure from Azure to GCP.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software, or System Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience.
8+ years of relevant experience.
Proficiency in cloud-based systems, containerized infrastructure, Linux/OS fundamentals, Kubernetes, Database systems, and Cloud networking.
Deep expertise in at least one Cloud platform required, with significant expertise in two+ platforms preferred (GCP and Azure).
Unix scripting experience and willingness to learn/support additional scripting languages.
Knowledge of modern DevOps techniques, 24x7x365 monitoring requirements, incident response, and on-call support.
Skills in troubleshooting distributed/microservice environments, managing Java/Scala/Kotlin, Python, PHP, and databases like Postgres and SQL Server.
Exposure to Azure technologies and experience working with US-based business teams.
Excellent written and communication skills in English and Hindi.
Ability to work within core US business hours/time zone expectations - Eastern Standard Time (EST) overlap.
Workspace requirements: a quiet work environment, internet connection of at least 30 Mbps download | 10 Mbps upload.
