Description:

  • The Senior Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer role at Canonical is a hands-on opportunity for a senior technologist passionate about Linux to drive success with Ubuntu and open-source products.
  • The IS team at Canonical supports and maintains all IT production services, serving over 60 million Ubuntu users.
  • As a Senior SRE & Gitops engineer, you will drive operations automation using open-source infrastructure as code software and CI/CD pipelines.
  • You will provide critical feedback to developers, improve Canonical products, and collaborate on design and implementations.
  • Responsibilities include designing services, developing infrastructure as code practices, automating software operations, and maintaining core services and infrastructure.
  • Troubleshooting, capacity planning, performance investigation, and setting up observability tools are key aspects of the role.
  • The position involves working with global teams, sharing best practices, and mentoring team members.
  • Final responsibilities include time-critical escalations and uninterrupted development time for automation projects.

Requirements:

  • Modern view on hosting architecture with infrastructure as code in private and public clouds.
  • Product mindset focused on developing products.
  • Proficiency in Python software development and experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration systems.
  • Ability to manage and deploy cloud infrastructure with code and practical knowledge of Linux networking, routing, and firewalls.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise Linux servers, cloud computing concepts, and various Linux storage solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • Strong communication skills in English and motivation to troubleshoot and learn quickly.
  • Flexibility, adaptability to fast-changing environments, passion for open-source, and willingness to work in distributed teams.
