Description:

The Senior Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer role at Canonical involves supporting and maintaining all IT production services used by over 60 million Ubuntu users.
Responsibilities include driving operations automation, utilizing open source infrastructure as code software, and providing critical feedback to developers on product scalability.
The engineer will collaborate with the IS architect, design services aligned with IS architecture vision, and develop infrastructure as code practices.
Other duties include automating software operations, maintaining core services and infrastructure, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.
The position requires working with globally distributed teams, sharing best practices, and mentoring team members.
The engineer will have uninterrupted development time for larger projects, be responsible for time-critical escalations, and communicate effectively in English.

Requirements:

Modern view on hosting architecture driven by infrastructure as code across private and public clouds.
Product mindset focused on developing products rather than solutions.
Proficiency in Python software development, experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration systems, and managing cloud infrastructure with code.
Knowledge of Linux networking, routing, firewalls, storage systems, and administering enterprise Linux servers.
Understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies, along with a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
Ability to troubleshoot from kernel to web, learn new things quickly, work within distributed teams, and be passionate about open-source technologies.
