Description:

  • Observable is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join their small engineering team.
  • The role involves working on a new part of the platform, focusing on creating new features rather than updates or maintenance.
  • Responsibilities include technical design, architecture, and coding across the full stack, including the open-source Framework library, cloud infrastructure, API, and frontend.
  • The team ships new code into production multiple times a day, emphasizing reliability and sustainability in system development.
  • The position requires taking initiative, managing workloads, meeting project deadlines, and empathizing with users to enhance their experience.
  • Collaboration with a diverse team of skills in engineering, design, product, and marketing is essential.

Requirements:

  • Candidates should have 6+ years of experience in feature development across frontend and backend stacks.
  • Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language such as JavaScript, Python, Go, or Ruby is required.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design, along with investigative and debugging skills, are necessary.
  • Familiarity with open source, cloud, or application platforms is preferred.
  • Ability to write readable, maintainable, self-documenting, or well-documented code to solve complex problems with elegant solutions is essential.
