Wealthsimple is seeking a Senior Software Developer for their Backend Platform team, which focuses on creating a seamless developer experience.
The role involves maintaining critical tools, standards, and best practices for fast, reliable, and secure software delivery.
Responsibilities include managing the CI/CD pipeline, building shared libraries, enforcing quality controls, and enhancing the internal developer portal.
The developer will lead key Backend Platform projects, ensuring quality and timelines through planning and communication with stakeholders.
The position requires developing and improving code to deliver efficient systems and tooling that support developers.
The candidate will coach and mentor teams using various tech stacks, including Ruby, TypeScript, Java/Kotlin, and Python.
Collaboration with Infrastructure and InfraSec teams is essential for building tooling for a company-wide Kubernetes migration.
The developer will work closely with Product to deliver backend tooling that accelerates product shipping while focusing on client needs and developer experience.
The role includes improving development processes by staying updated on industry trends and implementing new tools and best practices.
Participation in the hiring process and joining the on-call rotation to support critical systems is also required.

Requirements:

Strong programming skills in Ruby, TypeScript, Java/Kotlin, or Python, with proven experience in delivering scalable backend tooling or frameworks.
Extensive experience with microservices architecture and CI/CD pipelines, particularly with Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Docker, Github Actions, Datadog, and Sentry.
Experience with internal developer portals and tools, demonstrating a passion for creating streamlined developer experiences.
Proven ability to establish, implement, and enforce backend development standards and best practices, adhering to the philosophy of “Convention over Configuration.”
A collaborative communication style, capable of delivering clear, concise, and solution-focused messages to cross-discipline teams.
A passion for mentorship, with a desire to empower other developers while continuously learning new skills.
