Description:
Workato is seeking a Senior Backend Developer (Ruby) to join their team in Barcelona.
The role involves working on Workbot, a platform for building interactive chatbots for Slack & MS Teams.
Responsibilities include building complex Ruby on Rails services within the Workato platform, researching Slack & MS Teams ecosystems, contributing to all phases of the development lifecycle, writing efficient code, proposing system improvements, and supporting continuous improvement.
This is a remote role with a focus on complex backend development, application platforms, and conversational user experiences.
Requirements:
Qualifications / Experience / Technical Skills
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience developing, shipping, and maintaining Rails applications.
Strong debugging, analytical, problem-solving, and social skills are required.
A BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Solid knowledge of object-oriented programming and design is necessary.
Experience with JavaScript frameworks like AngularJS, React, etc., is beneficial.
Knowledge of the MS Teams or Slack platform & API is a plus.
Soft Skills / Personal Characteristics
Understanding of good user experience principles is essential.
Ability to work remotely with globally distributed teams and across different time zones is required.
Intermediate or higher proficiency in spoken English is necessary.
