Remote Senior Software Engineer

Description:

• Workato is seeking a Senior Backend Developer (Ruby) to join their team in Barcelona.
• The role involves working on Workbot, a platform for building interactive chatbots for Slack & MS Teams.
• Responsibilities include building complex Ruby on Rails services within the Workato platform, researching Slack & MS Teams ecosystems, contributing to all phases of the development lifecycle, writing efficient code, proposing system improvements, and supporting continuous improvement.
• This is a remote role with a focus on complex backend development, application platforms, and conversational user experiences.

Requirements:

Qualifications / Experience / Technical Skills

• The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience developing, shipping, and maintaining Rails applications.
• Strong debugging, analytical, problem-solving, and social skills are required.
• A BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Solid knowledge of object-oriented programming and design is necessary.
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks like AngularJS, React, etc., is beneficial.
• Knowledge of the MS Teams or Slack platform & API is a plus.

Soft Skills / Personal Characteristics

• Understanding of good user experience principles is essential.
• Ability to work remotely with globally distributed teams and across different time zones is required.
• Intermediate or higher proficiency in spoken English is necessary.
