Remote Senior Software Engineer 1, Backend Java

Description:

• Join Life360 in developing the next generation of backend services to accommodate the expanding user base
• Collaborate with Architecture and Product teams to enhance business growth by transitioning from monolith to microservices
• Design and develop Cloud code in Java to create robust and flexible systems
• Create Spring Java microservices to replace PHP monolith or support new features
• Develop API gateways for external integrations like Tile and JioBit
• Scale the system to handle over 10 billion events per day
• Monitor, improve, and deploy services
• Mentor developers, build technical specs, and handle live incidents
• Assist in automating component validation for Test Engineers

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent industry experience
• 5+ years of experience in backend and Cloud code development
• Proficiency in microservices and horizontally scalable architectures
• Ability to implement and support services for extended periods
• Experience with high-scale, low-latency systems and Kubernetes deployment
• Strong communication skills and collaboration with cross-platform teams
• Familiarity with AWS (EC2, EKS, DynamoDB, Kinesis), MySQL, Java, Python, PHP
• Bonus: Experience with Kafka Streams
