Description:
Liferaft is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Senior Software Engineer to enhance their platform for customer safety.
This role can be hybrid in Halifax, NS, or fully remote within Canada.
The Senior Software Engineer will report to the Senior Director of Engineering and will be crucial in developing the open source threat intelligence platform.
Responsibilities include collaborating with engineering leadership and product teams to create new features across various domains such as data acquisition, visualization, and threat management.
The role involves participating in standups, design and sprint reviews, bug bashes, and sprint kickoff activities for product releases.
Continuous analysis and optimization of the platform to ensure an excellent customer experience is expected.
The engineer will evaluate and propose new technologies and methodologies to align with industry best practices.
Agile practices will be leveraged to encourage collaboration and rapid development.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of experience with programming languages such as Python, Ruby, Go, or PHP for back-end/API development is required.
At least 5 years of experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other RDBMSs, along with a solid understanding of SQL and database schema design is necessary.
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS, HTML, and knowledge of the browser security model and browser APIs.
Experience with React for front-end development is essential.
Familiarity with ElasticSearch or similar technologies is a plus.
The candidate should be a creative problem solver who enjoys collaboration and has a passion for lifelong learning.
A strong enthusiasm for data is required.
A genuine passion for agile development, iterative improvement, and delivering value early and often is expected.
Strong presentation and communication skills are necessary, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience with PHP and Laravel is considered a plus.
