The position is fully remote, with employees located across the US and EU.
The Senior Software Engineer will help build and scale the Datafold Migration Agent (DMA), an AI-powered tool that automates SQL dialect translation and data reconciliation.
The role involves driving the development of DMA, shaping its technical and architectural foundation to address complex migration challenges.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining backend systems focused on AI-driven SQL translation and cross-database data comparison.
The engineer will collaborate with early customers to refine features and work towards product-market fit.
The position requires making strategic technical decisions to ensure DMA is scalable, robust, and optimized for high-performance data migration.
The engineer will take ownership of projects end-to-end, troubleshooting and resolving complex challenges in real time to deliver high-quality results.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of experience as a software engineer with a strong backend focus.
Proficiency in Python is required for this position.
Experience with large language models (LLMs) and/or JavaScript/TypeScript is a plus.
Proven ability to manage projects from design through deployment is essential.
A startup mindset is necessary, with a thoughtful approach to balancing speed, quality, and business impact.
