Description:

  • The Senior Software Engineer position is a remote role within the Information Technology (IT) department, focusing on Application Development.
  • The work impacts millions of lives by helping protect customers against life’s uncertainties.
  • Responsibilities include diagnosing, isolating, and debugging software problems to provide resolutions in a fast-paced environment with critical deadlines.
  • The engineer will participate in designing and building reusable processes that are well documented and transferable to future conversion projects.
  • Close collaboration with business analysts is required to gather requirements for internal and external system interfaces to meet business needs and expectations in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • The role involves modifying insurance administration systems to meet business requirements and may include managing work within a project.
  • Key responsibilities include researching, compiling, and evaluating information for the development and maintenance of complex systems, designing systems that meet customer requirements, constructing and testing system changes, and developing processes for data conversion.
  • The engineer must quickly diagnose complex problems and implement quality solutions, providing thorough documentation for all programming changes and enhancements.
  • Understanding customer business needs and providing quality support is essential, along with proactively suggesting process improvements.
  • The engineer will manage individual tasks on projects to ensure timely delivery according to the project plan and is considered a top expert in one or more areas of expertise.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in management information services, computer science, math, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of 10 years of applicable work experience with Annuity Systems.
  • Alternatively, a master’s degree in the same fields with a minimum of 8 years of applicable work experience is acceptable.
  • Extensive knowledge of annuity and life insurance products is required, including an in-depth understanding of various annuities and life insurance types.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience coding in DXC’s wMA or Vantage Administration system is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience coding in LIDP’s Administrator System (ADMI) is also required.
  • Candidates must have at least 8 years of experience and expertise in COBOL, particularly using Micro Focus COBOL in a client/server environment.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in performing complex life insurance administration system conversions is necessary.
  • Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience with policy administration ancillary systems and interfaces.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience debugging and modifying life insurance administration systems is required.
  • Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience working with database and mainframe data structures, including VSAM, ISAM, and Oracle.
  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL statements to retrieve and update data in highly normalized databases is essential.
  • Familiarity with ADMI’s, wMA, and administration system data structures and access methods is required.
  • Knowledge of mainframe systems, including MVS, TSO, JCL, CICS, and systems tools, is necessary.
