Description:
Join Everbridge, a global leader in Critical Event Management, as a Senior Software Engineer in the Risk Events Platform team.
This is a remote role based in Hungary, focusing on a high-impact platform that processes real-time risk data from various sources such as weather, wildfires, and disease outbreaks.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, and deploying high-quality services, applications, and APIs as an individual contributor on an agile, cross-functional team.
Drive technical discussions regarding architecture, scalability, security, and performance while proposing improvements and enforcing best practices.
Implement backend services using Scala/Java (Spring Boot) and frontend components in React.
Utilize AWS services (API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, OpenSearch, IAM, VPC, SQS/SNS) and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker.
Own infrastructure as code with Terraform, manage GitLab CI/CD pipelines, and work with automated testing frameworks.
Participate in on-call rotations for production support, troubleshoot escalations, and contribute to post-mortems for actionable improvements.
Ensure compliance with FedRAMP and DoD Impact Level 4 (IL4) standards while collaborating with Security and Compliance teams.
Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge through design and code reviews, and collaborate closely with Product, Test Engineers, and Tech Support.
Requirements:
A minimum of 6 years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent.
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Expertise in Scala and/or Java with Spring Boot; proficiency in React or similar UI frameworks for minor UI work is preferred, but no prior knowledge of Scala is required.
A solid understanding of distributed systems, RESTful API design, event-driven architectures, and data indexing.
Hands-on experience with AWS, including knowledge of availability zones, regions, and the general AWS ecosystem.
A proven track record of delivering enterprise-grade, secure, high-performance software.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on reliability, observability, and fault-tolerance.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain design trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience with Terraform modules and GitLab CI/CD at scale.
A self-driven attitude, eager to own features end-to-end and dive into the details.
