Description:
Red Canyon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) Ground Sustainment Services (LGSS) program.
The role involves sustaining and enhancing the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Common Ground System (CGS).
The JPSS CGS is responsible for command, control, communications, and data processing for JPSS-serviced missions.
The position supports the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) mission to acquire and distribute global environmental data from polar-orbiting satellites.
Responsibilities include supporting the development and sustainment of Satellite Ground Station Command and Control applications, ensuring system compatibility to meet technical, schedule, and cost objectives.
The engineer will develop, debug, test, and document software using languages such as Java, C++, Powershell, Python, Perl, Groovy, Bash, and XML.
Writing and maintaining automated tests is a key responsibility.
The role requires collaboration with systems engineers, test engineers, and other teams to develop technical solutions to complex problems.
The engineer will support release planning through effort estimates and task prioritization.
Utilization of JIRA in an Agile development environment is expected.
Mentoring junior team members is also part of the role.
Requirements:
A BS/BA in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Math, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience is required.
Candidates must have a minimum of 10-12 years of Software Engineering experience with a BS/BA, 8-10 years with an MS, or 5-7 years with a PhD.
Experience with software development methodologies and life cycles is necessary.
Proficiency in software development using Java, C++, Python, Perl, Powershell, and Bash is required.
Familiarity with common software development tools such as Git, Gradle, Ant, and Jenkins is essential.
Experience working in an Agile development environment is a must.
Extensive experience with Windows OS is required.
Candidates should be willing to learn new technologies.
The ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is necessary.
Benefits:
The position offers a salary range of $138,000 - $148,000 per year.
