Description:

  • Teaching Lab, a remote education non-profit, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their team.
  • The role will focus on Podsie, an educational technology web application for K-12 teachers and students, aiming to improve student learning outcomes through evidence-based strategies.
  • Responsibilities include designing and implementing personalized learning algorithms, building core features, and developing innovations to enhance the learning experience.
  • The Senior Software Engineer will contribute to a National Science Foundation-funded research project on improving STEM K-12 learning through spaced retrieval practice.
  • The position involves product development, applied research, and supporting the NSF grant project to maximize student learning outcomes.
  • The role may also involve working on other innovative projects in the future.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum five years of professional software development experience.
  • Proficiency in Rails, React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and Postgres.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, communication, collaboration, and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for improving educational outcomes and using technology to impact student learning.
  • Experience in system design, scalability, security, and optimizing software performance.
  • Desire to create inclusive digital experiences and a commitment to best practices in software development.
