Description:
Veracross provides SaaS-based School Information Systems (SIS) tailored for independent K-12 schools globally.

The Senior Software Engineer will work on the Finance product team, focusing on the Student Billing and Accounting product.
Responsibilities include building and improving the Student Billing system for managing charges, payments, and statements, as well as the Accounting product for managing general ledger and accounts payable/accounts receivable.
This backend engineer position emphasizes database layer work, requiring proficiency in SQL objects like stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
Candidates will spend over 60% of their time working in SQL.
The engineering team is remote-friendly, with employees distributed across various states and countries, although proximity to Wakefield, MA, or Raleigh, NC, is a plus.
Requirements:
Candidates must understand core accounting standards and concepts, including GAAP, General Ledger, and Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable.
Experience with accounting applications such as Quickbooks, Freshbooks, Xero, or Sage is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Strong technical organization and planning skills are necessary.
Candidates should be able to perform technical responsibilities remotely in a mostly asynchronous environment.
Flexibility and adaptability are important traits for this role.
A minimum of 4 years of professional programming experience is required.
Experience with the Ruby language, Rails framework, or similar technologies is necessary; modern JavaScript development experience is a plus.
Proficiency with relational databases and source control, especially git, is required.
A service- and team-oriented mindset is essential.
US Citizenship is required.
