Description:

FiscalNote is seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer, AI, to join their team developing the PolicyNote web application.
The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and maintain the application while enhancing user experiences and backend functionality.
The primary coding languages used are Python (FastAPI) and ES6 Javascript (React and Next.js), along with other web technologies for file storage, asynchronous job handling, and security.
The position includes working with the latest Generative AI and LLM technologies to add AI capabilities to core products.
Responsibilities include mentoring other engineers, providing technical guidance, performing code reviews, and delivering projects end-to-end.
The role reports to the Director of AI Development and is crucial for supporting the company's growth and success.
The R&D organization at FiscalNote drives the technology vision and strategy behind data and application products, focusing on transparency and informed decision-making.

Requirements:

A minimum of 5 years of applied experience in the software development industry using a modern tech stack, particularly Python/FastAPI and React/Next.js.
Strong experience in the Python ecosystem is essential.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills are required.
Strong communication and collaboration skills are necessary for this role.
Experience in managing projects from inception to completion is expected.
The candidate should be comfortable presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Working knowledge of production and Cloud environments, including AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux/Unix, Bash, and nginx, is required.
Familiarity with common data storage implementations, primarily Mongo, as well as Postgres, Elasticsearch, and Redis, is necessary.
Experience with Generative AI and LLM technologies is a plus.
The candidate should be technically curious, eager to learn, and willing to try new technologies.
