Remote Senior Software Engineer (Android)

Description:

• WeatherBug, a division of GroundTruth, provides hyperlocal weather forecasts to over 10 million monthly users through its app and website.
• The Senior Software Engineer (Android) role is remote and requires core work hours from 8:30 pm to 12:30 am IST.
• The engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing complex mobile solutions with limited oversight.
• Key responsibilities include architecting system designs, coding comprehensive software solutions, serving as a CodeOwner, automating testing processes, and collaborating with vendors.
• The role also involves overseeing mobile releases, decommissioning outdated solutions, providing ongoing support, and identifying technical risks.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or 9+ years of experience in software development is required.
• Candidates must have 7+ years of experience in software engineering with a strong background in Android development.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience with Android tools and frameworks such as Java/Kotlin, Android Studio, OkHttp, RxJava, image loaders, and SQLite is necessary.
• At least 3 years of experience working in an Agile team environment is required.
• Familiarity with AdTech and advertising integration on mobile platforms is preferred.
• Deep knowledge of object-oriented design principles, performance optimizations, and memory management is essential.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and excellent communication skills for collaborative work are required.
