Description:

Kin is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on back-end development to help change the home insurance industry.
The role involves developing products and features that are essential for Kin's operations, utilizing Ruby environments with Typescript front-ends and PostgreSQL.
The position requires applying Scrum methodologies in product and software development processes.
Responsibilities include writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code, leading pair programming sessions, mentoring junior engineers, driving design or architectural tasks, participating in daily stands and weekly retros, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
The ideal candidate will work on complex engineering problems and provide subject matter expertise and support.

Requirements:

Candidates must have a track record of shipping large, complex software projects.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Ruby, Python, or Typescript is required.
Experience with architectural design and the ability to articulate the value of technical investments is necessary.
Candidates should be able to operate with some technical guidance and have experience mentoring engineers.
Familiarity with front-end technologies and modern JavaScript libraries or frameworks (React, Vue, Angular) is expected.
The candidate should be comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment and be a fast learner.
Location in Central or Eastern US time zones (CDT & EDT) is strongly preferred.
