Description:

The Senior Software Engineer, Backend will design and build the future of Apollo’s product platform to support major worldwide customers, including Netflix and Expedia.
This role involves building and maintaining reliable internal services for usage-based billing infrastructure, GraphQL-based permissions, platform CLI tools, and more.
The engineer will harden and grow critical business microservices to appeal to both internal and external developers.
Responsibilities include designing and building core backend microservices, working on complex problems, and collaborating with engineering and product leadership to accomplish the team’s roadmap.
The tech stack includes GraphQL, TypeScript, Kotlin, Postgres, Kubernetes, Druid, and Kafka.
The engineer will use new Apollo prototypes and contribute to creating high-quality products with delightful user experiences.

Requirements:

Candidates must have experience working on distributed systems at scale and be comfortable implementing complex and performant microservices from the ground up.
A strong interest in GraphQL and modern developer tooling is essential, along with a desire to push the industry forward.
Candidates should be growth-oriented and enjoy contributing to systems that affect every product ship.
Creativity and a data-driven approach to problem-solving for the developer community are important.
The ability to share work broadly, both internally and externally, is a key requirement.

The salary range for this position is $144,500 - $195,500 a year, based on skills and experience.
