Remote Senior Software Engineer, Backend at brightwheel

Description:

Brightwheel is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for their remote team in the US.
The mission is to enable high-quality early education for every child, positively impacting childhood outcomes and supporting working families.

The role involves working closely with product and design teams to scope and implement new features or product lines.
Responsibilities include providing input to delivery and discovery, ensuring quality, scalability, security, and performance of the software.
The engineer will design and architect new software systems and introduce new technologies to support Brightwheel’s growth.
Sharing knowledge and expertise across the engineering team is also a key part of the role.

Candidates must have 5+ years of professional experience, preferably in dynamic companies or teams.
Experience in contributing to and designing APIs using Ruby on Rails is required.
Expertise in writing automated tests (unit/integration/functional) is necessary.
Proficiency in using Git or a version control equivalent is essential.
Candidates should have experience with various codebase sizes and ages.
Experience with microservice or service-oriented architectures is required.
Knowledge of PostgreSQL or query optimizations is necessary.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is preferred.
Familiarity with modern web applications like React.js is a bonus.
Candidates with varying backgrounds are encouraged to apply, and prior knowledge of the technologies in the stack is not required, only a desire to learn.

The salary range for this position is $123,000 - $189,000 a year.
