Description:

VergeSense is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their team, focusing on the Occupancy Intelligence Platform.
This role involves working across the software stack, utilizing technologies such as React, Ruby on Rails, Sidekiq, and TimescaleDB, hosted on AWS and Azure.
The engineer will help drive customer-facing features, including visualizations and analytics on dashboards, data management, and APIs for customer interaction.
The position is a full-stack individual contributor role with significant impact on both the software engineering and product teams.
Responsibilities include developing technical roadmaps, collaborating with various departments, and mentoring junior engineers.
The role reports to the Director of Software: Data and Analytics.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 8+ years of professional experience in designing, building, and shipping software.
Proven leadership skills in managing projects and effective communication with cross-functional teams are essential.
Expertise in Ruby/Ruby on Rails or similar server-side/web framework technologies is required.
Extensive experience in building APIs, managing high-volume data, and optimizing large-scale systems is necessary.
Strong skills in designing, debugging, testing, and writing well-documented code are expected.
Proficiency in optimizing background job processing, query performance, and database scalability is required.
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration in production environments is necessary.
Experience with Kafka or similar pub/sub systems is preferred but not mandatory.
