Description:

The Orbital Sidekick (OSK) software engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work on building SIGMA, a system for processing satellite imagery and delivering results to customers.
Responsibilities include designing and coding services for processing and cataloging imagery, detecting anomalies, storing metrics, creating reports, and delivering insights to customers.
The ideal candidate will be a generalist back-end software engineer with a deep understanding of cloud architecture and the ability to justify technical decisions to the team.
OSK's mission is to leverage hyperspectral imagery to address global environmental, health, and safety needs, as well as help companies achieve sustainability goals.
The role involves collaborating with product, satellite payload, and analytics teams to implement new image processing operations and plan features for incremental delivery.

Requirements:

5+ years of experience writing production code for cloud services.
Extensive knowledge of cloud computing, particularly AWS serverless technologies.
Experience with API technologies such as REST, OpenAPI, gRPC, and GraphQL.
Familiarity with orchestration technologies like AWS Step Functions.
Experience in making software architecture decisions within a team.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Effective collaboration skills for working with a remote team.
Experience with Python programming or a willingness to learn new programming languages.

Salary range of $120,000 - $190,000 a year for California, Washington, and New York City. For Colorado, the range is $115,000 - $185,000.
Compensation packages are determined based on various factors including business requirements, experience, and location.
