Description:
The Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Data position is a remote role based in the United States.
The role involves building automation and tooling to manage Legion’s persistent storage, including RDS MySQL, Redis, Aurora, Snowflake, and S3.
The engineer will be responsible for a core layer of Legion’s secure, highly-scalable, and cost-effective AWS/Kubernetes-based cloud platform.
Key responsibilities include supporting public cloud platform databases, developing infrastructure automation using Terraform, Python, and Golang, and creating and managing production database alerts.
The engineer will also investigate data layer issues, lead FinOps for data storage systems, and support the deployment of Legion’s WFM solution during and outside regular office hours.
Participation in an on-call rotation is required.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent is required.
Candidates must have 5-8 years of MySQL database administration or related operations and support experience.
A minimum of 3 years of experience working directly with AWS RDS MySQL services is required, with AWS Certification preferred.
Strong knowledge of AWS services and security is necessary.
Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience with programming languages such as Golang or Python.
Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing scalable database schemas, configurations, and recovery models is required.
Experience with Agile development processes, including scrums and retrospectives, is necessary.
A deep understanding of MySQL systems performance and advanced knowledge of MySQL internals is required.
Candidates should have 3+ years of experience working with private and public clouds and capacity management principles.

The salary range for this position is between $150,000 and $200,000, plus stock equity.
