Description:
Astronomer is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for their data ingestion team in Vancouver.
The role involves working on Astro Observe, a data observability product that is part of Astronomer's expansion strategy.
The engineer will lead the design and implementation of OpenLineage data collection and ingestion efforts.
Responsibilities include contributing to the OpenLineage and Airflow Open Source community, enhancing data collection and extraction from Airflow.
The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand user requirements and implement observability and governance features.
The position focuses on improving platform usability, reliability, and scalability.
Requirements:
Candidates must have a strong focus on helping customers gain visibility and actionable insights through observability offerings.
Proven experience with Python is required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary, with the ability to find common ground.
A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience is required.
Experience in fast-paced startup environments is preferred.
Familiarity with software development best practices, including code reviews, testing, CI/CD, version control, automation, and debugging is essential.

The estimated salary for this role ranges from CA$190,000 to CA$220,000, depending on leveling and geography.
