Description:
Spexi is a drone technology company focused on making ultra-high resolution geospatial imagery accessible to empower better decision-making about the physical world.
The company is building the Spexi Network, the worldโs first Fly-to-Earn platform, allowing drone pilots to earn rewards for flying and collecting aerial imagery.
Organizations can access high-resolution aerial imagery and valuable derivative data for remote monitoring of various assets without needing to own drones or hire pilots.
The Senior Software Engineer will contribute to data integrations, pipeline, infrastructure, and the global geospatial data catalog.
Responsibilities include designing and developing a scalable, sustainable, extensible, and secure geospatial data marketplace platform.
The role involves developing reliable APIs and backend services for global-scale geospatial data delivery, building robust systems for processing and analyzing high-resolution data, and collaborating with various engineering teams.
The engineer will take ownership of data architecture, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance, while maintaining high-quality code and providing technical leadership to the data engineering team.
Requirements:
A BSc. in Computer Science or a similar degree, or equivalent work experience is required.
Candidates must have 6+ years of data engineering experience with a proven history of creating and supporting large-scale production systems.
Experience with geospatial databases and technologies, particularly familiarity with GIS software and tools, especially the ESRI ecosystem, is necessary.
Hands-on experience in building geospatial APIs from specifications like WMTS and OGC is required.
A solid understanding of REST APIs, API-driven data platforms, and microservices architecture is essential.
Advanced proficiency in Python, TypeScript, SQL, and PostGIS is required.
Candidates should possess strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a self-directed drive.
Expert knowledge of cloud-based data infrastructure, particularly AWS (e.g., S3, Lambda, RDS, CDK), and modern DevOps practices is necessary.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote, agile environment are required.
