Remote Senior Software Engineer, Deployment Infrastructure at Reddit

The Deployment Infrastructure team at Reddit is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to focus on creating robust, automated deployment systems that balance reliability and efficiency.
The role involves deploying services globally by ensuring release artifacts can be deployed via custom workflows across various compute clusters.
Responsibilities include automatically detecting and rolling back bad deployments to minimize impact on production systems and propagating successful deployments without human intervention.
The position requires collaborating with a team of software engineers to build and deploy software capable of orchestrating complex deployment workflows, progressively rolling out services globally, achieving automated rollback of failed deployments, and providing insight and monitoring around deployment health.
The Senior Software Engineer will work with end-users to establish requirements and designs, integrate open-source technologies from the CNCF ecosystem, build end-user tooling like CLI utilities in Go, and share on-call responsibilities with the deployment infrastructure team.

5+ years of experience in the infrastructure and/or deployment domain, with a focus on software engineering.
Proficiency in Go (Preferred), Rust, or Python.
Experience developing on top of Kubernetes or similar distributed systems.
Familiarity with systems in the continuous delivery domain such as Argo, Flux, Temporal, and similar systems.
Strong troubleshooting skills from higher-level orchestration concerns to lower-level runtime issues.
Experience in designing large systems, scoping work, and building consensus with other engineers.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with a service-oriented team and company.
