Description:
The Senior Software Engineer will be part of the Workplace Engineering team, which specializes in web architecture and analytics.
The role involves designing and delivering web-based systems and SAAS.
The engineer will provide new insights into the Canonical workplace experience and enable new processes while improving existing workflows.
Collaboration with a distributed team is essential, along with writing high-quality code to create new features and debugging issues.
The position requires consistent high-quality code reviews for other engineers and collaborative discussions to find effective solutions.
Responsibilities include estimating work, setting goals, writing project specifications, and understanding risks.
The engineer will coach, mentor, and provide feedback to junior team members while also focusing on personal development.
The role involves connecting to various data sources to provide insightful visualizations and database design for connected systems.
Developing new working practices and providing tooling to support optimized processes is also part of the job.
A passion for the work is essential.
Requirements:
The candidate must be an expert in two or more of the following areas: backend web service programming in Python and Node.JS, web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), data analytics and statistical analysis, natural language processing, sentiment analysis, machine learning, and data visualization.
An analytical, data-driven mindset is required, along with a passion for connecting and making sense of data from APIs.
The candidate should demonstrate leadership, excellence, and consistency, and be capable of mentoring others in the team.
