Description:

  • The Senior Software Engineer will be part of the Workplace Engineering team, which specializes in web architecture and analytics.
  • The role involves designing and delivering web-based systems and SAAS.
  • The engineer will provide new insights into the Canonical workplace experience and enable new processes while improving existing workflows.
  • Collaboration with a distributed team is essential, along with writing high-quality code to create new features and debugging issues.
  • The position requires consistent high-quality code reviews for other engineers and collaborative discussions to find effective solutions.
  • Responsibilities include estimating work, setting goals, writing project specifications, and understanding risks.
  • The engineer will coach, mentor, and provide feedback to junior team members while also focusing on personal development.
  • The role involves connecting to various data sources to provide insightful visualizations and database design for connected systems.
  • Developing new working practices and providing tooling to support optimized processes is also part of the job.
  • A passion for the work is essential.

Requirements:

  • The candidate must be an expert in two or more of the following areas: backend web service programming in Python and Node.JS, web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), data analytics and statistical analysis, natural language processing, sentiment analysis, machine learning, and data visualization.
  • An analytical, data-driven mindset is required, along with a passion for connecting and making sense of data from APIs.
  • The candidate should demonstrate leadership, excellence, and consistency, and be capable of mentoring others in the team.
