Description:
VergeSense is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their team, focusing on the core Occupancy Intelligence Platform.
This role involves working across the software stack, utilizing technologies such as React, Ruby on Rails, Sidekiq, and TimescaleDB, hosted on AWS and Azure.
The position emphasizes analytics around time series data to help customers understand space usage patterns in their real estate portfolios.
Responsibilities include driving core customer-facing features, managing data transfer, aggregation, and storage, and developing APIs and webhooks for customer interaction with VergeSense data.
Senior engineers are expected to be technical leaders, strong communicators, passionate mentors, and effective cross-functional operators.
This is a full-stack individual contributor role with significant impact on both the software engineering team and product teams.
The role includes responsibility for technical roadmaps and collaboration with various departments to shape the overall product roadmap.
The Senior Software Engineer will act as a strategic thought partner for organizational leaders to drive business impact through application feature delivery.
The position reports to the Director of Software: Data and Analytics.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 8+ years of professional experience in designing, building, and shipping software.
Proven ability to lead projects and effectively communicate with cross-functional teams is essential.
Expertise in Ruby/Ruby on Rails or similar server-side/web framework technologies is required.
Extensive experience in building APIs, managing high-volume data, and optimizing large-scale systems is necessary.
Strong skills in designing, debugging, testing, and writing well-documented code are expected.
Candidates should be skilled in optimizing background job processing, query performance, and database scalability.
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration in production environments is required.
Experience with Kafka or similar pub/sub systems for building reliable, distributed architectures is preferred but not mandatory.
