Description:

The Senior Software Engineer will work with WordPress VIP, the enterprise division of Automattic, focusing on building, maintaining, scaling, and measuring content experiences.
The role involves designing, building, and evolving products that impact development and content teams at high-profile, high-traffic sites.
Recent projects include exploring content workflows, real-time collaboration, composable architectures, cutting-edge Gutenberg APIs, and the intersection of content and AI.
Responsibilities include developing and maintaining enterprise-ready WordPress plugins, writing technical design proposals, building and testing software, participating in release planning, and measuring impact.
Engineers will implement solutions end-to-end across various layers of WordPress, collaborate with product managers and designers, and implement monitoring and automation for product reliability and security.
On-call duties are required on a rotating basis, including troubleshooting and fixing issues in services.

Requirements:

Candidates must have deep knowledge of modern WordPress development, including Gutenberg block development and its internal APIs.
Proficiency in React, PHP, and the WordPress ecosystem is required.
Experience with large-scale systems to enhance speed, scalability, and fault tolerance is necessary.
A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for code reviews and architectural discussions are essential.
Knowledge of design patterns, testability, and experience with testing frameworks is highly valued.
A customer-focused mindset with good instincts on product design and user experience is required.
A willingness to learn is essential.

The salary range for this position is $70,000-$170,000 USD, with pay reflecting potential contributions and impact.
