Description:
The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for driving the development, maintenance, and innovation of a robust, modern, highly accessible design system.
They will act as a technical powerhouse supporting teams and delivering enhancements to the design system.
The role involves utilizing expertise in various technologies such as modern HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Web components, developer build tools, code versioning (git), and CI/CD.
Responsibilities include implementing, testing, and maintaining responsive websites that are fast, accessible, and work well on various devices.
The engineer will write clean, well-engineered code following engineering principles (SOLID, DRY, KISS) and collaborate with others to ensure designs align with usability, accessibility, and web standards.
They will participate in client events, forums, and new client acquisition activities to enhance and grow the organization's business.
Other duties include estimation and planning of iterative/agile releases, ensuring code compliance with Federal regulatory guidance, troubleshooting software applications/configurations, and interacting with teams and communities to gather requirements and provide effective solutions.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree.
8+ years of demonstrated experience in web design and development, including mobile and responsive design, with 10+ years of collective professional work experience.
Ability to undergo and pass a public trust clearance.
Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in writing high-quality modern HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript for various content management systems and frameworks.
Experience in all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, CI/CD, and release.
Familiarity with Agile Software Development Methodology, software development best practices, and developer/build tools like Gulp, Webpack, Rollup, and Vite.
Understanding of component-based design and development for design systems, GIT version control, and innovative problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge and hands-on experience with current technologies and web development tools, including Design Systems, JavaScript Frameworks, and Web Services.
High usability/accessibility standards to produce code compliant for Section 508 accessibility.
