Description:

VerticalScope operates one of the 10 largest community platforms in the US, with over 1,200 websites and 125 million monthly visitors.
The company is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a talented team to maintain and improve RateMds.com.
This role requires expertise in backend and frontend software development using Python and React.js.
Responsibilities include refactoring the legacy codebase and shipping new features.
The engineer will report to the Director of Engineering and collaborate with a team of seven engineers.
The position is remote from Canada, excluding Quebec.
The role involves working with cross-functional teams to operate and grow a portfolio of businesses.
The engineer will write readable, maintainable, and testable code while gravitating toward simplicity in architectural visions.
Responsibilities also include researching best practices, identifying tech debt, and contributing to the engineering roadmap.
The engineer will mentor junior teammates and be on-call on a rotating schedule every eight weeks.
Other related responsibilities and ad hoc projects may be assigned as needed.

Requirements:

A minimum of 5 years of experience in full stack software development is required, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.
At least 5 years of experience in web application development using Python and JavaScript is necessary.
Experience with an MVC framework such as Django is required.
Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks, particularly ReactJS, is essential.
Strong skills in CSS and HTML are required.
Proven experience in building robust and scalable web/app services is necessary.
Familiarity with relational databases, data modeling, and SQL is required.
A strong understanding of software architecture and design is essential.
Additional experience with online communities, Postgresql, ElasticSearch, Redis, Google Ad Manager, and programmatic advertising is a plus.
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform, and CloudFlare is also beneficial.
