Remote Senior Software Engineer - Fullstack

• Marqeta is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join the Customer & Cardholder Experiences team in Vancouver, Canada.
• The role involves designing, building, testing, and improving user interfaces and backend services for Marqeta's platform.
• Responsibilities include defining project milestones, providing technical leadership, and collaborating with cross-functional partners.
• The position requires working on innovative UIs and embeddable solutions to enhance customer and cardholder experiences.
• The successful candidate will write clear, bug-free code, identify gaps, propose solutions, challenge the status quo, and lead design for system components.
• The role also involves participating in on-call coverage and mentoring less-experienced team members.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3 years with a Master’s degree, or a PhD with 8 years of experience; alternatively, 8+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
• 3+ years of backend experience in Java, modern Java backend stack using Spring Boot and Kubernetes on AWS, and building/consuming RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency in SQL, data modeling, database technologies (preferably MySQL), Javascript, Node.js, and developing scalable microservices on cloud platforms like AWS.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, collaboration, communication, and experience in modern software engineering ecosystems.
• Ability to work with cross-functional stakeholders, make difficult trade-offs, and identify technical blind spots.
