Description:
Marqeta is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join the Customer & Cardholder Experiences team in Vancouver, Canada.
The role involves designing, building, testing, and improving user interfaces and backend services for Marqeta's platform.
Responsibilities include defining project milestones, providing technical leadership, and collaborating with cross-functional partners.
The position requires working on innovative UIs and embeddable solutions to enhance customer and cardholder experiences.
The successful candidate will write clear, bug-free code, identify gaps, propose solutions, challenge the status quo, and lead design for system components.
The role also involves participating in on-call coverage and mentoring less-experienced team members.
Requirements:
5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3 years with a Master’s degree, or a PhD with 8 years of experience; alternatively, 8+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
3+ years of backend experience in Java, modern Java backend stack using Spring Boot and Kubernetes on AWS, and building/consuming RESTful APIs.
Proficiency in SQL, data modeling, database technologies (preferably MySQL), Javascript, Node.js, and developing scalable microservices on cloud platforms like AWS.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, collaboration, communication, and experience in modern software engineering ecosystems.
Ability to work with cross-functional stakeholders, make difficult trade-offs, and identify technical blind spots.

Competitive base salary range of CAD 103,000 - 137,000, calibrated based on working location.
