The Senior Software Engineer II, Backend - Requests will join a team of 5 engineers to create new services for managing update and approval requests.
This role involves reimagining how requests are centralized and managed at an enterprise scale within a distributed architecture.
The position allows for remote work from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.
Responsibilities include building scalable back-end services using Kotlin and Java, solving distributed systems problems, and working with modern cloud infrastructure like AWS and Kubernetes.
The engineer will lead code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with product management.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 7+ years of software development experience in building highly scalable and available applications.
A minimum of 7 years of programming experience with full stack technologies such as Java, Kotlin, or TypeScript is required.
At least 2 years of experience with cloud technologies like AWS or Azure is necessary.
Experience in developing, documenting, and supporting REST APIs is essential.
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience is required.
Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis.
