Description:
GOAT Group represents the leading platforms for authentic sneakers, apparel, and accessories, operating four distinct brands: GOAT, Flight Club, Grailed, and alias.
As a Backend Engineer at GOAT Group, you will own and build the platform that supports GOAT's global marketplace, connecting over 60 million buyers and sellers.
You will work on various clients, including web properties, mobile apps, API partners, and internal services.
Your role will involve building and maintaining GOAT’s dynamic pricing algorithm, which computes regional low prices based on product prices, inventory locations, fulfillment costs, and trade and tax regulations.
You will also build tooling to configure and test this algorithm and manage the underlying pipeline that updates prices in real-time across the platform.
The position requires you to contribute to shared features like checkout, offer settlement, tax remittance, and accounting.
We are looking for a high Senior or Staff level engineer to help mature the Pricing platform, ensuring it remains stable, scalable, and easy to understand as new features are added.
You will need to acclimate quickly to a large existing codebase and communicate clearly despite complexity.
As an expert and potential technical lead, you will have significant opportunities for leadership and growth, making a lasting impact at GOAT.
Requirements:
You must have 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering, preferably in Golang or Ruby.
Experience with relational (PostgreSQL) and non-relational (DynamoDB) data stores is required.
You should have experience working on large, production, customer-facing systems.
Experience as a service owner or technical lead is necessary.
You must be able to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders to clarify complex business problems.
You should have experience and comfort in working with and improving large codebases.
Familiarity with both monoliths and service-oriented architectures is required.
Experience working on features related to e-commerce, pricing, or checkout is preferred.
You should be a self-starter with high attention to detail and strong communication skills.
An interest in taking on more scope and responsibility over time is essential.
A BS degree is preferred.
Bonus points for engineering experience at a public e-commerce or marketplace company and at a successful IPO-stage startup.
Benefits:
The hiring range for this position is $160,000—$200,000 USD, plus benefits.
Benefits include 401K, paid time off, dental, medical, vision, disability, and life insurance options.
The company carefully considers various factors, including work location, role/level, skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity when determining starting pay within the hiring range.
