Description:

Cruise is a self-driving service focused on building advanced self-driving vehicles to enhance urban mobility and safety.
The Consumer AV team is responsible for connecting autonomous vehicles (AVs) to riders and managing safety-critical integrations with hardware components.
The Senior Software Engineer II will lead the design and implementation of scalable, low-latency software in C++ on Linux-based ROS systems.
Responsibilities include contributing to next-generation AV development, leading AV system architecture design, maintaining I/O and vehicle control nodes, creating simulation tools for remote testing, improving software reliability, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and mentoring team members.

Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in building, testing, and shipping production-quality software.
A minimum of 5+ years of experience with modern C++ is required.
Strong fundamentals in computer science, including object-oriented programming, scalable software systems, data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis are essential.
A passion for developing tools and frameworks that simplify complex workflows is necessary.
Proven collaboration skills with cross-functional partners are required.
Bonus points for experience with AVs, ROS, embedded Linux, automotive domains, scripting languages, network protocols, and building hardware abstraction layers.
