Description:
Astronomer is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Infrastructure team in India, specifically in Hyderabad or Bangalore.
The role involves enhancing scalability, performance, and reliability of the Astronomer Software while minimizing operational overhead.
The engineer will leverage expertise in container orchestration (Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Openshift) to streamline infrastructure for seamless on-premise installations.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including CRE, Platform, and QA, is essential to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
The engineer will implement robust security measures to protect infrastructure and customer data, ensuring resilience against potential threats.
Monitoring tools and performance metrics such as ELK and Prometheus will be utilized to identify optimization areas and enhance system performance for on-premise installations.
Responsibilities include serving as the primary point for platform health, performance, and capacity, assisting in product feature roll-outs, developing deployment tools, and improving automation.
The engineer will perform root cause analysis, document results, and participate in an on-call rotation with customers.
Requirements:
Candidates must have at least 5 years of hands-on experience operating Kubernetes clusters in a production environment.
Experience in managing and scaling distributed systems in one of the major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) is required.
Strong experience with at least one Continuous Integration system, such as CircleCI or Jenkins, is necessary.
A solid understanding of the Linux Operating System, standard networking protocols, and components is essential.
Candidates should have experience with deploying, supporting, and monitoring services, platforms, and application stacks.
Automation/Scripting experience with Shell, Python, or similar languages is required.
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Cloudformation is necessary.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are a must.
