Description:

Astronomer is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Infrastructure team, focusing on their flagship Enterprise product, Astronomer Software.
The role involves enhancing scalability, performance, and reliability while minimizing operational overhead using container orchestration (Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Openshift).
The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement efficient infrastructure solutions.
Responsibilities include implementing security measures to protect infrastructure and customer data, utilizing monitoring tools to optimize system performance, and serving as the primary point for the overall health and capacity of the platform.
The engineer will assist in deploying new product features, develop tools for rapid deployment and monitoring, improve automation, perform root cause analysis, and maintain documentation.
Participation in an on-call rotation with customers is required, and the role demands functioning well in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5 years of hands-on experience operating Kubernetes clusters in a production environment.
Experience in managing and scaling distributed systems in one of the three major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) is required.
Strong experience with at least one Continuous Integration system, such as CircleCI or Jenkins, is necessary.
A solid understanding of the Linux Operating System, standard networking protocols, and components is essential.
Candidates should have experience with deploying, supporting, and monitoring new and existing services, platforms, and application stacks.
Automation/Scripting experience with Shell, Python, or similar is required.
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Cloudformation is necessary.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.
