Description:

  • Goldschmitt and Associates LLC (G&A) is seeking a Senior Software Engineer experienced in Java web applications to support the DISA Automated Time Attendance and Production System (DATAAPS).
  • This position focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining a large-scale, Oracle-backed Java environment, ensuring the system meets DFAS standards for performance, security, and reliability.
  • Job duties include developing and maintaining Java/J2EE applications, writing new features, troubleshooting, and enhancements.
  • The engineer will work with Oracle databases, PL/SQL, and WebLogic application servers to ensure smooth data flows and system performance.
  • Responsibilities also include providing production support, troubleshooting issues, analyzing logs, resolving software defects, and handling escalations from the helpdesk.
  • Participation in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily scrums, retrospectives) and adherence to DFAS software lifecycle processes is required.
  • The role involves creating and maintaining technical documentation such as design specifications, test plans, and release notes.
  • Ensuring code compliance with security standards, RMF, STIG requirements, and 508 accessibility guidelines is essential.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Candidates must have 7+ years of hands-on Java development experience in an enterprise setting (JEE, Servlets, JSP, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Oracle database technologies and PL/SQL is necessary.
  • Candidates must possess US citizenship and the ability to obtain a favorable Tier 3 (Noncritical-Sensitive) background investigation.
  • Comfort in working in a remote team environment and participating in after-hours support as needed is required.
  • Familiarity with HTML/XHTML, CSS, and related web technologies is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Agile SDLC, version control (Git or Subversion), and continuous integration/deployment practices is important.
  • Experience working in a DoD or federal environment is a major plus.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, including analyzing performance issues and implementing secure coding practices, are essential.
