Description:

Shippo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for their Labels team to help shape the technical design and rearchitect critical label services.
This role is high-impact, directly driving revenue and improving the shipping experience for customers.
Responsibilities include designing, implementing, testing, and deploying software services with high SLAs that can handle millions of requests daily.
The engineer will create long-lasting architecture from scratch and evolve existing systems for scalability and maintainability.
The role involves enhancing the CI/CD pipeline for smooth production releases through automated testing and verification.
The engineer will verify and ensure system performance and correctness in response time and throughput.
Responsibilities also include designing and maintaining database schemas for large-scale services and refactoring existing systems for optimal performance.
Participation in peer reviews, testing, and contributing to automated test suites and design reviews for new features is expected.
Collaboration with business teams to provide early input on new product ideas and functionality is essential.
The engineer should have experience being on-call and responding quickly to system incidents.
The role includes championing testing procedures and automation to support scaling efforts.
Hands-on work in gathering business requirements, development, and verification is also part of the job.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 8+ years of experience in software development.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of the organization are required.
Past experience in building and supporting scalable APIs, services, or applications is necessary.
A solid understanding of object-oriented programming and familiarity with various design and architectural patterns is essential.
Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
A deep understanding of customer needs and a passion for customer success are important.
Candidates should be able to identify opportunities and foster a culture of innovation.
Coding experience in server-side programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, Java, Ruby) and database languages (SQL) is required.
Experience with server-side MVC frameworks (e.g., Django, .NET, Spring, Rails, Phoenix) is necessary.
A BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required.
Advanced/Fluent English proficiency is mandatory.
