Description:
Serve Robotics is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Mapping and Routing to enhance their sidewalk delivery robot capabilities.
The role involves optimizing and expanding mapping and routing functionalities using GIS data, including OpenStreetMap (OSM).
The engineer will work primarily in C++, focusing on architectural and algorithmic decisions to improve navigation systems.
Responsibilities include integrating map data from various sources, developing routing algorithms, optimizing performance, collaborating with Operations, ensuring system scalability, and promoting continuous improvement through code reviews and best practices.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of professional experience in software development, particularly in C++ for high-performance systems.
A strong understanding of GIS data structures and processing pipelines is required, with experience in OSM or similar datasets being a plus.
Familiarity with HD mapping solutions, such as Lanelet2 or custom lane-level map representations, is necessary.
Proficiency in routing algorithms (e.g., A*, Dijkstra’s) and data structures is essential.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes) is advantageous.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complexity in real-world geospatial challenges are required.
Strong communication skills are necessary, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
