Description:

  • The MDN Web Docs engineering team is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer for a 12-month fixed-term contract position.
  • The role involves maintaining and evolving the open-source platform that powers the website developer.mozilla.org, used by 17 million developers monthly.
  • The engineer will collaborate with a small, friendly team to enhance flexibility and performance by refactoring the codebase.
  • Responsibilities include developing new features, improving the build system, collaborating with various team members, and simplifying data integration into other products.
  • The engineer will also work on the premium product, MDN Plus, and collaborate with partners from Google and Microsoft on joint functionalities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of software development experience.
  • Strong fundamentals in software engineering, including modularity, abstraction, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Extensive experience with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Web APIs, and Rust (or similar compiled language).
  • Proficiency in frontend and backend web development, especially on high-traffic websites.
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and deployment workflows, particularly using GitHub Actions.
  • Full-stack mentality and ability to work effectively in a remote, geographically distributed team.
